Children’s start times are staggered at the moment (from 8:55 to 9:20) as are finish times (14:45 to 15:10). Your child’s regular and prompt attendance at school is crucial to his/her success. As soon as the children enter the classroom in the morning, children immediately start their learning. If children are not here on time, they miss out on such opportunities.
PE is on a Friday afternoon and the children need to come to school wearing their kit. Please ensure that this is appropriate for the weather.
PLEASE ensure you read with your child as often as possible. Please bring books back on Monday. Books will be changed once a week on a Wednesday.
Spelling and Maths will be sent home on Friday. Spelling Tests will take place on a Monday afternoon. Maths homework needs to be returned by Monday. This will also be added to Google Classroom.
Times Table Challenges will take place on Thursday afternoon. Please help your child learn their multiplication tables – we are starting with twos, fives and tens.
The children will be tested on their Key Instant Recall Facts (KIRFs). This term we are learning number bonds within 20.

The children have a Guided Reading session every morning in which they read with an adult and have activities related to their book and our topic on the other days. This provides an idea of the things we do during Guided Reading.
In Literacy this half term we will be reading The Jolly- Rogers. The children will be writing their own short story at the end of the unit.

In Numeracy this term we will be looking at tally charts, bar charts, counting forwards and backwards in steps of ones, twos, fives and tens, place value, measures, addition and subtraction.
Please support your child at home by helping them to complete their Maths homework, practice their KIRFs and learn their two, five, ten and three times table.
